*actually sneaking over from your gay book list that doesn't suck*

I can't exactly remember when I stumbled across your book reviews (which, btw, I love. I certainly can't think of anyone else where I've gone back and reread book reviews just for the simple joy of laughter), but I do know I've gone back to the site about five hundred times. Anytime there's an update, I just about roll around on the ground in a fit of ecstasy.

And then I see a link to a livejournal, and I just can't help myself. XD

Don't mind me, I'll probably just be laughing uproariously to myself as I read your posts. You don't have to friend me back if you don't want to. But it'd be awesome if you would.

Oh, also, hey. I'm Katie. But that part's not important.

Hello, Yes I wandering in for the Dresdenfiction, but am staying for the writing about writing and general life-with-books coverage. Just so you know why I'm friending.

Welcome aboard! :D "Life with books" is a great way to describe what I blog about here.

Got here via a comment that went something like, "Here's a rec that makes me simultaneously happy and sad, because it's so good, but it's the writer's only fic," and I read the fic, and it was indeed so good, and I shared in the recommender's mournfulness, but then! Then! I came here and was like, MOSTLY TALKIN' ABOUT BOOKS, YOU SAY? So, having peeked at your booklist and found that I agree with your views of things I'm familiar with, I'm going to start working through the rest of it as a guide to new reads, and stick you on my friends page in the meantime, in the event you feel moved to say some more smart shit.

I've been looking for a decent list for years, and have scrolled through Lambda's, Amazon's and others to no avail. From reading your list of top reads, I think it likely that we have some similar likes (hey, who doesn't like decent characters and working plots?) as well as similar hates (sneering homophobia, unbelievable characters).

On your recommendation, I'm getting some of the list, and hope to be pleasantly surprised, since I'm usually disappointed by books with gay characters.

Can I recommend the Wilde short stories collections? I'm not a huge fan of short stories, but they are good enough to weather. Also, anything by Chris Beckett, not tons of gay characters, but searing social commentary.

Thanks very much for putting the list together, and keep 'em coming!
